Most of our regular visitors with small children say this is a must.
Life-size dinosaurs – 9 miles from Norwich, off the A1067.

Hunstanton Beach

Busier in season but beautiful at low tide out of season – good for windsurfing, kit flying or rock pooling. Sunday lunch at the Golden Lion overlooking the beach is pretty good, too.

Priory Gardens & Maize

Snettisham Park

Blickling Hall

‘Leading heritage Venue’ – special events throughout the season, for example fundays, treasure trails, kite flying days. Telephone for details – 01263 738030.
Hall and gardens open 8 April – 29 October.

Seal Trips

Available from Morston and Blakeney, depending on tide times and weather conditions.

Crab fishing and racing

Burnham Overy Staithe quayside – check tide times. Fishing lines available from the boathouse shop.

sandy norfolk beach Holkham Norfolk

Holkham Beach

As seen in Shakespeare in Love! Golden sand and pinewoods. Either walk from Burnham Overy Staithe along the picturesque cockle path (40 minutes walk), or ride bikes, or park at Lady Anne’s Drive opposite Holkham Hall (£2 per car). No facilities.

Wells Beach & Beach-huts

Park in beach car park (pay & display) – probably best out of season at low tide on a bright winter’s day – walk along the beach and back through the pinewoods.

Gressenhall Rural Life Museum

Part under cover, recently extended and refurbished. Educational and fun. 4 years upwards.

Shire Horse Centre

West Runton Stables, Cromer
Farm museum with lots of working horses and also British pony breeds. If you’re lucky there may be foals as well… also film and video shows.
